Learn More About Noura, Her Trajectory and Her Current Situation

How to Help and Keep Noura Safe?

  • Raise Awareness: Share Noura’s story on social media and other platforms to raise awareness about her situation. This can put pressure on the Canadian authorities to expedite her permanent residency application.
  • Sign the Statement of Solidarity: There is a Statement of Solidarity with Syrian Human Rights Defender Noura Aljizawi that you can sign here to show your support.
  • Write to Canadian Authorities: You can write letters to Canadian authorities, including the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Public Safety, and Immigration, urging them to expedite Noura’s permanent residency application and to provide her with the necessary protection.
  • Support Legal Actions: Noura’s lawyer is currently suing in federal court to press Canadian authorities to proceed with the prompt processing of her case. Supporting these legal actions through legal expertise, can help Noura’s case.
  • Support Organizations Working for Noura: There are organizations like the Women, Peace and Security Network – Canada (WPSN-C) that are working to help Noura. You can support these organizations by volunteering your time and skills, contact [email protected].
  • Advocate for Policy Changes: Advocate for changes in the laws, policies, appeals, and decision-making processes related to the resettlement and immigration of human rights defenders in Canada. This includes a thorough review of the application of Section 34 of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, which gives intelligence authorities expansive discretion under national security.

Remember, every action counts and can make a significant difference in Noura’s life and safety.
